Our 6th class pupils will be learning about computer programming in the coming weeks. Here is the plan for the lessons to be covered.

The students will learn the basic concepts of computer programming through a series of workshops using Scratch, HTML & JavaScript in a format similar to Coder Dojo www.

Scratch is a block-based visual programming language that is a good starting point for students to learn the basic concepts of computer programming. Students will learn to make animations and games in Scratch.

Students will learn how they can use programming concepts to make physical robots do activities. Students will write code to instruct robots using devices like the Microbit &  Sphero.

HTML is the standard markup language for creating web pages and web applications. Students will learn how to use HTML to build and customize websites on topics that they might be interested in.

JavaScript is the programming language of the Internet, the secret sauce that makes the Web awesome, your favourite sites interactive, and online games fun! Students will learn the basics of JavaScript and how it works on the web.
