Materials - Ms McElduffs 5th class - Which material is the best insulator

posted Sep 29, 2020, 11:59 AM by Owen Breslin

We wanted to see which material was the best insulator of heat. We decided to examine which material would keep hot water warm for the longest length of time. We chose several different materials that we believed would be good insulators - sheep wool, feathers, cotton, paper, bubble wrap, tin foil etc .. We made sure it was a fair test by using the same bottles, the same amount of water, the same length of time, the same weight of materials and the same temperature for each. We recorded our results and found out that paper kept the water warmest.
