Sue Cody Rest In Peace

We are very sorry to hear of the death of our former Secretary and great friend Sue Cody.

Sue was appointed as Secretary in our school in 2002, a few months after the sudden death of her beloved husband John.

She remained with us until April 2013 when her sudden and debilitating illness left her unable to return to work, nor indeed to live a normal

life thereafter.

For those who knew and loved Sue, her illness represented a particularly cruel blow to somebody who was so active in so many aspects of life and work. She was an excellent school secretary, loved by everybody in Scoil Shinchill. She was exceptionally kind to colleagues, children, parents, and everybody who called to the school in any capacity.

She was highly artistic and loved to lend a hand to any project or display, with a critical eye for detail. Indeed her interest in art led to Sue staging her own exhibition and many houses locally are adorned with her beautiful paintings.

She was also a talented seamstress and for a number of years was invaluable to the work of Tullamore Musical Society in the preparation and adjustment of costumes.

It is mark of how well she was regarded that several teachers from other schools called regularly to hear if there was any update on her condition, right up until her death this week.

As a colleague and friend, she was wonderful company, lighthearted and loved nothing more than a good night out , particularly if there was dancing involved.

She will always be remembered with great love and affection by those of us lucky enough to have shared any part of her 11 years with us.

Leaba i measc na n-aingeal duit Sue. Ní bhéidh do leithead arís ann.

We extend our deepest condolences to Sues daughter Deborah, sons Andrew and Chris, son in law Ger, daughter in law Mari, grandchildren Kyle, Jack, Harry, Lexi, Kiera, Lily and John, her sister Anne, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Sues Funeral details are as follows:

Welcome to the Website of Scoil Shinchill.

We hope that it is of use to you as a source of information on all that happens in our school.

We are a coeducational, lateral school catering for the children in the Killeigh area as well as those from the Meeleghans and Killurin. At the moment we have 295 children on roll but that is set to increase for the coming year.

Our school has a Catholic Ethos and is under the auspices of the Catholic Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin , Dr.Denis Nulty. We welcome all children to our school, regardless of religion and we hope that the education they receive is reflective of virtues such as tolerance, friendship, honesty, compassion and courage which we strongly promote.

As a school, the education we provide is underpinned by a strong ethical and moral responsibility to the preparation of children for their lives ahead and the opportunities and challenges they will meet.

We adhere to the principles and aims of the Revised Curriculum and we hope that the education we provide is a good preparation for the children as they embrace the future while also providing them with knowledge understanding and appreciation of times past.
