Dear Parents,

As you know play is extremely important and beneficial in the development of children and we have a large and very imaginative infant class this year. We are developing our play and drama resources in the infant classes and we are looking for your help in doing this. I'm sure that hiding in your attics and cluttering up your garages are perfectly good toys that your children have outgrown and are no longer being played with. We can give them a good home! We are looking for toys connected with the following:

1-   The House: a dolls' house and little toy people, dolls' house furniture,

children's aprons, a baby doll's buggy or pram, a baby doll's cot, a toy washing machine....

2.    Animals: a toy farmyard, toy tractors, trailers, farm machinery,

a vet's play set or animal hospital, farm and wild animals figures, animal grooming toys e.g.

toy brushes, shampoo, hairdryer, etc.

stuffed animals that could be used in a pet shop e.g. dog, cats, mice, parrots, hamsters...

3.       Transport: cars (we have a big shortage in cars in particular), trucks, buses, trains, planes, toy

garage, toy emergency vehicles...

4.       People Who Help Us: costumes for nurses, doctors, paramedic, shopkeeper, gardai, etc

Doctor's kit, toy hospital and ambulance, toy police station, toy fire station...

5.       The Garden Centre: toy gardening tools, gloves, flower pots, toy wheelbarrow, toy watering

can, sand toys...

6.       Construction: Builders toys, a builder's workbench, lego, lego people, lego mats/ boards....

7.       Board games: There is a school-wide shortage of board games. Any games with all their

pieces would be appreciated.

We are also looking for any old fancy dress outfits that you no longer use for our dress-up box e.g. Fireman, policeman, builder, princess, pirate, doctor, nurse, soldier etc (no scary Halloween costumes please).

Please ensure that all toys are in good condition as young children will be using them.

Thanking you in advance for all your help.
