Our VEX robotic group composed from pupils in 6th class took part in this years VEX Slapshot competition. The boys and girls had to design, build, control and program a robot to complete a series of tasks. The group started work on this years competition back in November. Working on Friday afternoons and after school on Wednesdays, the group came up against many challenges and worked together to come up with the optimal solutions. This hard work paid off when they came joint 1st in the regional competition that was held in Edenderry back in early February. This meant that they qualified to take part in the national competition in Cork. 

They travelled to Pairc Ui Caoimh in Cork for the National finals. The team had put a massive effort into their engineers diary and presentation and they had also fine tuned our robot that had performed so well in the regional final in Edenderry. The boys and girls once again done everyone at Scoil Shinchill proud and they placed in the top 10. Well done to everyone involved.

Mr Phelans 4th class joined Microsoft Dream Space and the Garage for a coding event. The boys and girls had great fun learning about coding and got to create their own game.  It was wonderful to see the boys and girls helping each other solve the problems and complete the game. Well done everyone
