Maths week - Vitruvian Man Theory– truth or myth?

Post date: Oct 18, 2018 6:54:27 PM

The pupils in Mr Breslins class learned about Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian man based on the noted by Vitruvius, The theory outlines the relationship between proportions or dimensions of parts of the body. The part we investigated ourselves was the theory that a persons arm span from fingertip to fingertip is the same as someones height.

After working in pairs to measure arm span and height we discovered that a number of pupils had indeed the perfect Vitruvian proportions and had the same height as arm span. Many of the other boys and girls had proportions that were quite close to this.
