Engineers Week - Ms Fox's class

Building a bridge

The boys and girls in Ms Fox's 2nd class had great fun designing and building their own bridges. We first discussed what properties a good bridge needs to have. We then looked at the different types of bridges. We realised that we Mr White wouldn't allow us to use concrete to build our bridges so we decided we would have to use a mixture of paper, cardboard and lollipop sticks. We looked at how we could make the paper stronger by rolling it into tubes.

The pupils split into groups and designed their own bridge. There was a mixture of arch bridges, suspension bridges, and bridges with strong support towers. Well done everyone on your hard work.
