Ancestry Project

As part of the celebration of the centenary of 1916 schools were encouraged to take part in an Ancestry Project. The purpose of the project was to trace back a family tree to 1916 and in particular to try and find out about our relatives who lived during that time.

For the last two weeks pupils together with their families have been busy researching their projects and writing down all of the information. The results of this are to be seen in the corridors outside 5th and 6th class where you can read about people who were involved in the Rising, people who were involved in World War 1 (on both sides) and people who were involved in the war of independence.

People are welcome to come in at a suitable time and have a look at this if they wish. We would like to sincerely thank all of the parents and grandparents who went to great lengths looking up family history. We are very proud of the work that our pupils have done on this and we would like to say a huge well done to all involved.

As part of the project many pupils brought artifacts into school to show everyone. These included guns, medals, certificates and photos.
