Proclamation day

Post date: Mar 15, 2016 11:31:25 PM

Today the boys and girls of Killeigh NS celebrated Proclamation Day.

At 11 o'clock a large crowd of parents  and locals gathered with us in front of the school. After Mr White had welcomed everyone our infant classes entertained us with a lively version of "I'll Tell Me Ma"  . Next up were Snr Inf / 1st and 1st classes who treated us to Dilin o Deamhas. 2nd class continued entertaining the crowd with their chosen number Oró Sé Do Bheatha Bhaile. Our two 3rd classes combined with another Irish song called Trasna na dTonnta . 4th class performed Irelands Call and we were also treated to some Traditional music and dance courtesy of Sean Brady, Shauna Byrne MS Sheeran, Ms Boland and Ms Molloy.

Mr White then proceeded to read out the original 1916 proclamation. When the clock struck 12 the time had come to raise the flag. The honour was left to our oldest pupil Grahame Milner and our youngest pupil Leah Gorman.

It was a very enjoyable and memorable occasion for all of the boys and girls and many thanks go to all who attended and helped in any way.

After tea and refreshments had been served, 5th and 6th class put on Mr Whites play "A Triumph of All Sorts" for one final performance.
