Tullamore Harriers Athletic Club

The Tullamore Harriers Club was established in 1953 and holds many national competitions. The facilities there are up there with the best in the country and we are privileged that some of our children get to run and partake in events there.  We are regular visitors to The Harriers and liaise with them for annual events such as cross country events and memorial events. Our older classes get quite competitive about gaining entry to the events they hold.

The Colin Dunne Memorial is an annual one for us. The boys and girls really enjoy the day out and love to bring home a few medals too. They get to meet up with other schools and a get the chance to race and perform track and field events which they may not otherwise have access to. Not every child enjoys ball games and this affords children the opportunity to explore other activities /interests which is healthy for body and mind.

The Athletics strand for senior pupils is taught around the time of the Colin Dunne Memorial Athletics competition. In addition to the fundamental movement skills, every child learns a range of athletics disciplines. From these lessons a team is chosen to enter the competition in the Harriers.

Another very popular event every year is the Offaly Athletics Schools Cross Country competition. This is held in the Harriers every year.
