The teachers, staff, pupils, and entire school community would like to send our heartfelt support and best wishes to our past pupil Nicole Heffernan as she represents Offaly in the Rose of Tralee next week.
The staff and children were thrilled when Nicole visited us in June. She took the time to meet with the pupils and answer their questions about her journey so far in the Rose of Tralee. The children learned a great deal from her, and she shared some valuable insights and advice during her visit.
One of the key messages she shared was the importance of kindness — how a simple smile or a kind word can make a big difference in someone's day. She is a fantastic ambassador for our school, our community, and our county, and we couldn’t be prouder of her.
We are incredibly proud of Nicole and wish her the very best of luck in this exciting journey
Congratulations to the pupils in 2nd class who received First Holy Communion.
Thanks to everyone who helped make the First Communion so special.
It really was a fantastic team effort and we thank you all. A proud day for our school.
We were delighted to welcome our past pupil and this years Offaly Rose of Tralee, Nicole Heffernan to school.
Nicole presented medals to our boys hurling team and spoke to our pupils about the upcoming Rose of Tralee competition, about the importance of being kind to one another and about the upcoming Men's Minds Matters fun run. Ms Sheeran spoke of how proud we all are of Nicole and wished her all the best from everyone in Scoil Shinchill. We are very grateful to Nicole for coming in.
It's become a rite of passage for every 6th class pupil to learn about the history and heritage of our parish. Every year we are honoured to have Fr John Stapleton lead our 6th class group on a tour of our local historical sites. This trip always proves to be very popular with teachers and pupils alike. We are very grateful to Fr John for sharing his knowledge with us.
Congratulations to our hurling team who retained the Colin Dunne cup today by beating a gallant Scoil Phroinsiais Naofa Clara team in the Offaly Cuman na mBunscoil final.
Thanks to Offaly Cuman na mBunscoil for organizing the games. Thanks to Clara for a great game. Thanks to Ms Fennelly, Ms Dermody, Mr Breslin and our GPO Eimear Carroll for all their work with the lads. Thanks to our staff, students and parents for all their support. Thanks also to our local clubs for all their support throughout the year.
Pupils had a great time learning about the djembe drums with Kevin from Music Generation Offaly . Thanks a million to them for their ongoing support of music in our school.
Pupils from Scoil Shinchill took part in the annual Colin Dunne Athletics meet in Tullamore hosted by Tullamore Harriers. As usual, it was a fantastic day that was really well organized. Thanks to the Tullamore Harriers for organising. All of our Athletes performed very well and one of our girls teams claimed 2nd place. Well done to all our Athletes and especially to our successful girls team. Thanks to Ms Fennelly and Ms Sheeran for looking after all teams.
We held our Colour Run fundraiser. We hold this event every two years and the children absolutely love it. Thanks a million to everyone who helped out. We extend a very special thanks to everyone who contributed sponsorship money. We also held our annual Sports Day. Thanks to our Parents Association who helped us and thanks also to our wonderful GPO Eimear Carroll who also joined us to lend a hand. Finally, we are blessed to have the use of the wonderful facilities of Clodiagh Gaels GAA club. We extend our thanks to them for allowing us to do so. For more click on the link
