Ms Regans 3rd class build bridges

Ms Regans class recently designed and built their own bridges.

First, they chatted about what they already knew about bridges. They watched a short presentation about the different types of bridges and what types of materials they would need to be built from. They looked at shapes and structures and investigated how the characteristics of certain materials could be changed by changing the shapes of them. They investigated forming paper into tubes, folds etc to determine how they could make it stronger.

They agreed that materials to build a bridge should be strong, easy to work with, sturdy(not fall over) and look nice.

They worked in groups using different materials such as lego, popsicle sticks, cardboard tubes etc.

They then tested their designs
