Ms Moriartys class also took part in our Engineers visit about wind farms. They really enjoyed watching one of the engineers week shows Explorium: Engineering and Sports and as an engineering challenge, they designed and built their own drawbridge. They looked at a number of design solutions and most groups opted for the traditional rope drawbridge. Fixing their materials together proved to be quite a challenge and they used special paper fasteners, support brackets and glue to provide sturdy structures.
Ms Phelans class watched an Engineers week show and took on 2 challenges. They designed and built a shelter for a lego mini character and they also designed and built their own marble run.
Ms Berrys class really enjoyed Engineers week and they watched some engineering shows online and they also designed and built a shelter for a lego minifigure.
Ms Bolands class got creative and made some lovely geometric structures using spaghetti and raisins. Traditionally, we would use marshmallows for this, however in a test, it was found that raisins proved t be easier to use!!
Ms Dermodys class also enjoyed watching the Silly Billy Engineering show and making structures with spaghetti and play doh.
