Ms Moriartys 4th class had a great time celebrating maths week and a challenging but enjoyable maths trail in the school grounds
5th class celebrated Maths week this week with some lovely hands on
Maths. We learned that a bag of skittles was more than just a bag of sweets!!
We joined thousands of other Primary school children across Ireland for a very
interactive Maths quiz which taught us lots about the possibilities of Maths in
our environment. We created graphs on our Chrome books and we finished off
the week by taking some fresh air in the village and conducting a travel survey.
A lovely week which opened our eyes to the possibilities of Maths far beyond
the textbook!!
Pupils in 6th class explored their surroundings in the school playground and in the village as they tok part in some maths trails.
Maths week
Junior Infants had great fun participating in maths week
Junior Infants created beautiful coloured patterns using pegs and beads.
They made a witch by cutting out 2d shapes.
They played counting games such as snail trail and they completed Humpty Dumpty’s wall by matching the correct patterns to each other.
They also sang lots of number songs and rhymes.
Senior Infants have been having lots of maths fun this week!
We played Number Sense Bingo and Snakes and Ladders.
We got outside and put on our maths eyes to complete some measure challenges.
- We found something heavy, sat on something to make ourselves shorter, ordered leaves from the shortest to the tallest.
- We formed groups and made ourselves as long as possible.
We visited a virtual Maths Fun Fair where we spotted the highest and lowest numbers, counted how many people could go on the rides at once, pointed to some 3-D shapes, and spotted how many tokens were needed to play darts.
